Christ carrying the Cross, painted by one of the greatest and most renowned painters of the Renaissance, Giorgio Vasari, had until a few months ago spent its centuries of existence as an anonymous and unknown work.
Its state of preservation was extremely good, despite being covered by a layer of dirt and oxidized varnish that made it difficult to undertake a clear and fair reading of the work. Following its cleaning, the colors, lights and glazes, now uncovered, along with the firm control of the palette, revealed what was without doubt the hand of the master.
