This interesting work of art serves as a good example to explore the reception of the formal and figurative language of the Italian Renaissance in Spain at the beginning of the sixteenth century, as well as the close relationship between Italy and Spain and their fruitful artistic exchanges. This unusual piece, full of dramatic quality and expressive force, represents two powerful children who are flying while holding a cloth as if it were a curtain.

Needless to say, the high quality of the work and the technical ability of the artist can immediately be seen in the reliefs. In this sense, the anatomical knowledge required to achieve this representation of the children’s bodies, markedly strong and chubby, is remarkable. The difference in their postures clearly reflects the intention to break the expected symmetry in these types of compositions. The bodies twist to portray different attitudes and show great mastery of movement. In addition, they look engrossed in thought and express an intriguing sweetness. The pair gives a general impression of vigor and expressive force.
