Penitent Magdalene is a very frequent iconographic theme in Christian art. She is usually represented half-naked, with coarse clothes and long and messy hair. It can be represented in a natural environment or in an interior; but the most common is that some characteristic elements appear, such as the skull, the cross and, sometimes, some mortification instrument.
